For 2 coats of different shades we expect each coat to dry. Once the second layer is dry, sand it locally with sandpaper to give the object the age and appearance we want.
Then wipe well and apply the varnish or wax depending on the look you want to give. These materials deepen the shade, protect it and increase its durability.
